Apple has agreed to a $95 million class action settlement to resolve allegations that its Siri voice assistant recorded private conversations without user intent and shared them with third parties. The lawsuit accused Apple of violating user privacy by allowing Siri to activate unexpectedly and capture sensitive conversations that were not meant to be recorded.
Though Apple denies the claims, the company chose to settle to avoid further litigation. The class action includes U.S. residents who owned or purchased Siri-enabled devices between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024.
Devices involved include the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, MacBook, iMac, HomePod, iPod touch, and Apple TV.
Eligible class members can receive a pro rata cash payment of up to $20 per Siri-enabled device, depending on the number of claims filed. Payments will be drawn from the net settlement fund after fees and administrative costs.
To qualify, class members must submit a valid claim form affirming that they owned or used a Siri device and experienced at least one unintended activation during a private or confidential conversation.
The deadline to file a claim, exclude yourself, or object is July 2, 2025.
The final approval hearing is scheduled for August 1, 2025.
